  • What animals do you work with?
I primarily work with horses and dogs, but I have experience with cats as well! Each animal has its own unique needs, and I adapt my methods accordingly to create the best experience for both the pet and their owner.
  • How much do you charge?
Please take a look at the Services page for detailed pricing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, don’t hesitate to email me—I’m here to help!
  • Are you insured?
Yes, I’m fully insured with Public Liability Insurance, so you can feel confident in knowing that both you and your pets are in safe hands.
  • Can you train an old dog?
Absolutely! The old saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is simply not true. I’ve successfully modified behaviours in many older dogs, and it often happens much quicker than people think—sometimes faster than training a puppy! Plus, keeping their brain active with training is great for their overall well-being, both mentally and physically.
  • How many sessions will I need from you?
For dogs, the number of sessions depends on the specific issue at hand. A big factor in how quickly you’ll see results is consistency—if you continue practicing what we work on together, your dog’s progress will be much faster. For horses, it's the same: the amount of sessions will depend on the horse and the issue. After an initial assessment, I’ll be able to give you a better idea of what’s needed and how long it will take.
  • Do you use treats?
I use what motivates the animal! Treats, toys, praise, or anything that gets your pet excited and engaged. I’ll identify what drives your animal and use that as a reward system. Over time, you may find that the rewards become less necessary as the behaviour becomes more ingrained.
  • What equipment do you use?
At Educating Pets, I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach when it comes to equipment. I may suggest certain tools based on what works best for your pet, but I’ll never dictate what you should use. If you have specific equipment in mind, I’ll work with what you have and teach you how to use it most effectively.
  • Can I bring my kids/other people along?
Yes, absolutely! It’s really important that everyone who will be interacting with the animal is on the same page with training. I encourage everyone in the household to attend sessions to ensure consistency across the board. No extra charge for additional attendees!
  • Will you come to my home?
Yes, I offer home visits! I’m happy to travel to you, but please note that there may be a travel fee if you’re located outside my local area.
  • Do you do dog walking?
I offer dog walking, but with a twist! My dog walks are combined with training, so I’ll be working with your dog during the walk to modify behaviours and reinforce training. This means fewer sessions are required to achieve lasting results, and it’s a great way to keep your dog mentally stimulated while improving their behaviour.
